ASG had a big night last Friday as we held our annual Employee Appreciation Night at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club in Bethesda, Maryland! The theme was Casino Night, quite the atypical kind of event compared to our annual company picnic at Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro, Maryland we’ve had in the past.
The night kicked off with cocktail hour as guests poured in with their dates. An open bar supplied glasses brimming with all sorts of drinks, and hors d’oeuvres were passed around such as mouth watering brie and turkey quesadillas, crunchy vegetable spring rolls, and chicken satay skewers with a spicy peanut sauce! Hungry yet?
Around the bar/lobby area, the room opened to a large Art Deco theater, and guests took their seats at tables adorned with candles and tablecloths of ASG blue and green. MC Joseph Davis of Business Development introduced CEO Marty Janis and COO Rob Busick who delivered company news and messages of appreciation to all employees. After a moment of silence for Otis Byrd, an Atlantic Transportation shuttle driver who we tragically lost a couple of weeks prior to the event, dinner was served.
After a delicious meal of house salad, bread, chicken marsala, Asian noodle salad, rice pilaf, garlic mashed potatoes, and a vegetable medley, awards presented by department heads were given to the nominated Employee of the Year from each department. There was an additional Team Player Award given to an employee who best exemplified team spirit and going “above and beyond” in the past year. Congratulations to the following award winners:

- Employee of the Year Atlantic Parking: Robel Ghebresilassie (Presented by Matthew Upton & Yohannes Kifle)
- Team Player Award: Daniels Flowers (Presented by Nigel Davis)
Gambling time! Casino tables opened for the rest of the night. Craps and roulette out front in the lobby, blackjack to the sides of the theater, and poker onstage. It was an enjoyable time as some employees were racking up chips to convert into raffle tickets, while others were not so lucky. But everyone had the chance to win raffle prizes, as there were door prizes given away such as Fitbits, restaurant gift cards, and various gift baskets. Lastly, the evening closed with announcing casino raffle prize winners who won prizes like a NutriBullet, Beats Headphones, a Kindle, tablets, a TV, and more!
Thank you to everyone who was able to be a part of the successful night, those employees who make Atlantic what it is today: the drivers, parking attendants, valet attendants, members of our maintenance crew, administrative personnel, and upper management.
