Atlantic prides itself on being a company that not only gives back to its customers through service and excellence, but also to its community through various projects all year long. That’s why every summer Atlantic partners with CFSA’s Partners for Kids in Care, an organization that aims to provide supplies and services to children in the foster care system, to collect and donate school supplies to foster children in the DC area.
In previous years Atlantic has set up a donation box in our Tenleytown corporate office and placed bins at some of our many parking locations in hopes to get as many donations as possible, but this year our method of collection was a little different.
If you visited our office sometime during the summer, you would have seen colorful backpacks hanging by desks, on coat racks, and on hooks. There would have been backpacks of various designs lined up and down the halls: our accounting department sported a neat Spider-Man backpack, and our claims department showed off knapsacks with characters such as Elmo and Hello Kitty. Instead of having one plain old box in the lobby like in the past, each employee graciously brought in a new or gently used backpack to hang by his or her desk. Throughout the summer, employees filled each other’s backpacks to the brim with supplies: crayons, pencils, notebooks, folders, you name it!
Now that summer is coming to a bittersweet end and children everywhere are anxiously preparing to return to school with new back-to-school clothing, a thirst for knowledge, and school supply shopping lists in hand, PFK’s recipients will be ready as well. Thank you ASG staff for your enthusiasm and participation in donating. Thank you to our wonderful parkers who dropped off donations in the bins at parking locations, and as always, thank you PFK board for having us be a part of the project again. ‘Til next summer!
